“More than Enough”
One of the favorite associations I have to my parents is overhearing their hilarious, beautiful, truly connected conversations about everything and nothing. There could not be two more opposite personalities that were, in every way, perfect for each other. Imagine two immigrants, both from different countries, making their way to an entirely new country, showing up to pursue their advanced degrees with next to nothing. And did they ever have the ultimate argument of arguments whenever us kids would even think about complaining! Some days, Pa would be gone for weeks at a time- pursuing his ambition to one day establish his information integrity software company empire. All mom would ever ask before his departure and upon his arrival was a kiss. I never actually saw what (at the time) seemed to be the most gross of gestures, but I knew they had something that all the money in the world could never purchase... they had each other’s hearts. This candid of the two of them in a barren room was taken a couple years back when I was helping them move out of Ocean Ridge to check out this place called Naples in Florida. Those conversations were in full swing again during this capture, with Pa’s head resting on mom’s lap- the most content man in the world was right there in this moment. And mom knew that all was well because just being in each other’s company was more than enough...
