“Reading Rainbows on a Rainy Day”

So many leaves of potential autumn hues have fallen amidst the strong winds and perpetual storms. At least the backyards and walking paths will become playgrounds of crisp color to celebrate this season with. Coming home after training and getting ready for a new day of doing good things was thankfully without feelings of melancholy that sometimes come with a missing sunrise- for that daily emergence of light across the horizon or above the trees serves as a symbolic refresh to anyone’s angst.

I check the mailbox either at the end of the day or the next morning should I also have some letters to send... a supposed lost art form yet my cornerstone for writing... creative, contemplative, or maybe even courageous depending on the recipients of my correspondence. How special it was to receive such a heartfelt package from the IU Complete Life Cancer Support Diretor celebrating a successful art project?! To know that my pieces did make quite the positive impression had me feeling so grateful and hopeful and, of course, inspired.

There have been and probably will continue to be grey days ahead. But even in the company of storm clouds, the possibility of rainbows on rainy days remain. So I’ll focus on this perspective shift, wishing all of you, especially those in our cancer support cancer community, those intermittent moments of hope to hold onto.
